Things To Do In Wine Country

Fun is in Order When You Visit Long Island Wine Country

Looking for things to do in wine country besides tasting wine? Eastern Long Island is a virtual playground.

I bet there are a few things to do that you might not have thought of while you are in wine country. You can relax and take it slow and still have fun along the wine trail.

Fun Places to Go

There are beaches, restaurants, quaint bed and breakfasts and more at your fingertips for your weekend getaway in wine country.

If you are visiting for the day, there are many other things to do besides wine tasting. Plan your day or weekend in advance for a fun day or weekend in Long Island Wine Country.

If you are into antique browsing or shopping, you will find many antique shops on the South Fork in the Hamptons.

Family Fun

There are lots of things to do for the entire family. If you take the family with you for the weekend you can go to the water park, aquarium, or take in the stock car races at the Riverhead raceway.

There are many beaches and parks on Long island. Pack a special picnic and enjoy fun in the sand for the day.

Take A Guided Tour of Historic Home

You can take a guided tour of the furnished 25 room historic home of Declaration of Independence signer William Floyd. There are special dates and times for the tours, so be sure to call in advance for details.

Biking in Wine Country

Explore Long Island’s North Fork wine region by bicycle. You can cycle along country roads and through local farms, vineyards and villages.

Bring along a picnic lunch on your visit to one of the wineries with a patio. You can taste their wines to enjoy with your picnic lunch. This is a beautiful way to spend a day in the country.

Or research the touring companies to plan a day of biking along the wine trail. Lunch is provided as well as wine tasting and touring wineries in the afternoon. Transportation is provided to and from the area.

Wine Camp

Adult camps are quite popular of late. My favorite is wine camp. If you are a wine lover, and want to learn about wine and wine-making, this is for you.

Wine camp on Long Island is a comprehensive 3 day weekend with accommodations at a first class Long Island Bed and Breakfast and includes delicious meals with wine pairings. glass of red wine

There are several participating wineries that host seminars/activities and tastings. The grand finale is five course dinner and wine pairing at a North Shore vineyard.

If this is your "glass of wine" then you might want to consider a weekend at Wine Camp.

Horseback Riding

Among the many things to do on Long Island is the very popular horseback riding. There are many stables on Long Island that give riding lessons. Listed are just two of the many stables that give lessons. Call for information and directions and to make a reservation.
