My Story, My Passion

Wine appreciation and wine tasting has become the activity for the new millennium. It’s fun and enjoyable and it’s also a terrific way to add an element of enjoyment to your traveling adventures and entertaining with family and friends.

Tasting Home Made Wine

My story begins with my earliest wine tasting experience during childhood. I don’t want to give you the impression that my family was irresponsible. It’s just that I grew up in a large Italian family and my grandfather made wine in our cellar.

Our Sunday dinners were always a special family occasion and grandpa gave everyone a glass of wine. I remember he would slice fresh fruit and put it in our glass with the wine. 8622_1323034305_1aAs my sister and I got older we began to enjoy the sweet tasting wine and we would ask for another sip, but that was a no-no. Grandpa said we had more than enough
to stay healthy.

It seems that some old wives tales are more fact than fiction.

Funny how years ago basements were called cellars, and today a cellar is thought of as a place to store wine. It seemed that the cellar in our house was the ideal climate for my grandfather’s winemaking.

Entertaining

I enjoy planning and creating new ideas for wine tasting parties and entertaining which I learned from my mother and grandmother. They were great cooks and very adept at planning menus and cooking for our large family whether it was a holiday or just Sunday dinner. They did it with ease!

Cooking and entertaining became second nature for me. The wine tasting came much later as an adult. I became intrigued with the world of wine so I enrolled in the International Wine Center. It was there that my passion for wine continued to grow.

I had many interesting instructors and mentors who shared their tips and basic information about wine and tasting wine. Their presentations and explanations were always very simply stated and un-assuming so I never felt intimidated.

I learned from my mentors that wine is not a mystery and there is no reason for wine “snob” attitudes. I realized the more you know about grapes and wine-making, the more you will feel confident about ordering wine and enjoying all its complexities and characteristics.

Why I Built This Website

As my story continues, my mission is to share with you all the basic and practical information with facts and tips which you can use enhance your enjoyment of wine and have fun when entertaining your family and friends.

I thought, why not create a website as my canvas for sharing all this information with as many people as possible. I was fortunate to meet so many people who were so giving and willing to share, that I wanated to do the same thing but in my own way. I’m not much of a public speaker, so the internet seemed to be the perfect setting.

I only had one problem — “where do I begin?” I created a website many years ago, but I didn’t get much traffic. I knew that I would have to find out what the secrets were to getting traffic. I started searching the internet and found so much information that it took months to figure out what it was all about.

Searching

After reading all the information I realized that I needed more than just a website. It takes a lot of behind the scenes mechanics for a website to get picked up by the search engines. So I had to find out how all that stuff works, but I didn’t have a clue as to how to begin. I read so much “propaganda” that I couldn’t make sense of it, but I was determined. I knew there had to be a way.

I searched for 3 full months — no kidding. I used every search term I could think of until I found what I was looking for.

Finally, there it was — Site Build It!. It was exactly what I needed.

I couldn’t believe all the tools Site Build It! offers. Now I have this website that offers me the ability to use my creativity, and share my passion.
