Collecting Wine
Collecting Wine and Investment Opportunity Buzz
The interest in wine has increased over the last 20+ years. This interest has prompted an increase in wine collecting for personal use and enjoyment, as well as for investment.
However, there is a caveat to all this interest. The wine market can be volatile. This is important to keep in mind when deciding whether to collect wine and enjoy it, or invest in the wine market and hold on to your prized bottles.

Collecting and Enjoying Wine
Most of us enjoy wine with our meals and may have not thought about collecting wine. If you want to collect wine for your personal use and enjoyment you will want to know what wines to buy.
When collecting wine buy wine you like. If you think about it, when you are buying anything for your personal enjoyment you usually buy what you like. Do the same with wine and you will not be disappointed.
If you are just beginning to learn about wine and not sure what you like, don't worry. Learning about wine and doing wine research is the fun part.
Wine Tasting and Winery Visits
Begin your journey by
tasting many different wines, read wine reviews, and when you are buying wine be sure to ask questions. The sales people in wine shops are usually very knowledgeable and will be happy to help you.
If you have the opportunity, visit wineries where you can take a tour. This is a great way to learn how wine is made and pick up other bits of inside information which can be helpful as well. After a few winery visits and wine tastings, you will start to know which wines you like and why.
When visiting wineries, you will have an opportunity to purchase some aging wines. This can give you double pleasure -- great wines to enjoy along with the fond memories of your winery visit and how and why you decided to buy that particular wine.
Collectible Red Wines
When choosing wine for a collection or investment you'll want to be sure you pick the red wines you really enjoy. There are more red wines that are
age-worthy than white wines. France, Germany and Australia are some of the
regions that produce age-worthy wines. How terrific would it be to open a wine several years from now to celebrate a special occasion in your life.
Cabernet Sauvignon is one of the most age-worthy wines. You can't go wrong by choosing a Cabernet from a "premier" winery to be the perfect celebration wine years from now.
White Wines
Not all white wines are created equal. Most white wines are made to drink immediately or within two or three years. However there are exceptions. Premium white wines produced in France, Italy and Germany can be worth collecting and aging for several years.
Some white Burgundies will age beautifully. The Reisling grape is the one of the most age-worthy grape varieties grown. Unfortunately, there are not many Reislings produced that will age well. The most expensive Reislings are the ones you might consider adding to your collection.
Champagne
We do not usually think to collect Champagne. Most of the aging of Champagne is done by the producers before it is released. However, if you want to add a very special bottle to your collection consider a vintage Blanc de Blanc which is made from only Chardonnay grapes. So think about a future special occasion and look for the perfect vintage to add to your collection for that special moment.
Drinking wine is one of life's pleasures. When collecting wine for personal enjoyment choose wines that you know you will enjoy with your meals for every occasion as well as those special occasions. Pop open a bottle any day of the week, even if you are just having burgers.
So Taste Wine and Enjoy! it for any meal and any occasion.
